Safeguarding
Children’s safety is always our highest priority.
Everyone within our Federation takes personal responsibility on a daily basis to ensure children are kept safe.
This is done through:
- Meeting Health and Safety standards
- Undertaking DBS checks all staff, students, governors and volunteers
- Ensuring that essential training is kept up to date (paediatric first aid, food safety, safeguarding etc)
- Securing our site, including data protection
- Liaising with outside agencies – Health Visitors, Social Care, SEN Services
- Meeting our Prevent Duty requirements
Safeguarding Children Statement
A Child-Centred approach to safeguarding
Throughout our Federation of Nursery Schools, the health, safety and wellbeing of all children is of paramount importance. We therefore work hard to ensure appropriate policies, procedures, staff training and monitoring is in place to provide a safe, supportive and caring learning environments in which children can flourish.
Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm – safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment, safe from all types of abuse –we strive to ensure that all feel safe in our schools.
Our schools aim to provide a positive, stimulating, caring and safe environment which promotes the social, physical, emotional and moral development of each child. We work hard to maintain a safeguarding ethos and culture whereby all children feel safe. In order to fulfil our responsibilities we adopt a child-centred approach.
This means that:
- Safeguarding systems and procedures are oriented around the wishes, feelings and best interests of children;
- We seek to give children a 'voice', listen to what they say, take them seriously and work collaboratively in order to meet their needs.
There may be occasions as a school where we have a concern about a child when we may have to consult other agencies in relation to their welfare or child protection concerns.
